By Grace Izilien

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has sacked all his political aides who were appointed on November 8, 2025.

A statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary Ebenezer Adeniyan in Akure, said the sack was to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery. “In the ongoing drive to enhance efficiency and deepen service delivery, Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has relieved all political aides of their duties with immediate effect.

“Those affected are Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor.

“The governor thanked them for their contributions to the development of the state thus far and wished them well in their future endeavours.

“Meanwhile, in a step to strengthen coordination and inject fresh capacity into the administration, about 1000 new aides, from across the 203 wards in the 18 local government areas of the State, will be appointed by the Governor in due course.”

The sack followed resignations by some state executive council members, who desire to contest in the 2027 general elections. They include Hon Gbenga Omole, the Special Adviser on Transport; Hon Fadairo Oluwafemi, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Community Engagement (Central); and Dr Olusegun Victor Ategbole, Chairman of the Ondo State Hospital Management Board (HMB).

Their actions was in line with the INEC election guidelines ahead of political parties’ primaries for the 2027 general election.
