Since assuming office as President-General of the Ex-Junior Airmen Association (EX-JAM), Ahmed A. Mimi led Exco has embarked on series of high-level engagements aimed at repositioning the alumni body of the prestigious Air Force Military School (AFMS) Jos, for greater institutional relevance, members’ welfare and developmental impact.

The engagements with critical stakeholders including very senior officers across the Armed Forces of Nigeria, politicians, senior civil servants, seasoned administrators and eggheads in global corporate and business entities signal what observers describe as a new era of deliberate and strategic leadership within the alumni association.
Reconnecting with AFMS Jos Heritage
The August 13, 2025 EX-JAM delegation courtesy visit to S.B. Abubakar, former Chief of the Air Staff was focused on strengthening the EX-JAM relations with senior Air Force leadership and reinforcing mentorship structures for younger generations. The visit came two days after the August 11, 2025, EX-JAM delegation courtesy call to Engr. (Dr.) Sadiq Mustapha, Chairman of DPP&E and CEO of Trade & Tech Group of Company, a distinguished Ex-JAM member in Kano.
Speaking during the visit to the former Air Force Chief, Mimi said the current EX-JAM leadership is focused on repositioning the AFMS alumni. “Our administration is committed to restoring institutional pride and strengthening the bond between past and present generations of Junior Airmen. We are here to consolidate on the legacy laid by our predecessors in recognizing the very senior officers who have worked tirelessly for greater EX-JAM and AFMS Jos.”
He noted that EX-JAM must transition from a reunion-oriented body into a structured institution capable of meaningful contribution to the welfare of members of the alumni, Air Force Military School AFMS Jos and Gentlemen Junior Airmen (JAM).
“This is about building structure – mentorship, welfare, and developmental frameworks that will endure,” he added.

On August 19, 2025, the EX-JAM leadership was welcomed by Major General UM Alkali, Commandant of the Army War College Nigeria. The meeting underscored the association’s commitment to aligning its objectives with broader national service and military leadership goals. According to the EX-JAM PG, his administration is determined to leverage collaboration for development.
“The EX-JAM must be visible, organized, and impactful. Our focus is to support our alma mater and empower our members to contribute meaningfully to national development.”
In continuation of its engagement, the Mimi led Exco was received by the Commandant of Air Force Military School AFMS Jos, Group Captain A. In his remarks, the EX-JAM PG reaffirmed the association’s commitment to better EX-JAM/AFMS synergy with renewed emphasis on supporting the school in areas of pressing needs.

During its visit to the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, at Naval Headquarters on 10 February 2026, The Ahmed Mimi led Exco congratulated the first EX-JAM service chief on his well deserved appointment, describing his elevation as a landmark achievement for the EX-Junior Airmen. He expressed the Association’s pride in the CNS’s accomplishments and presented a strategic roadmap aimed at supporting his leadership and advancing shared aspirations.
The President-General highlighted the presence of AFMS Jos alumni across various branches of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to national unity and professional collaboration.
“AFMS products serve across the Armed Forces and beyond. Our visit is a reflection of unity and our collective responsibility to strengthen institutions on productive collaboration.”
JAM and AFMS Development
At the heart of Mimi’s administration is a renewed focus on the welfare and mentorship of current Junior Airmen (JAM )at AFMS Jos. According to him:
“Every Junior Aircraftman should feel the impact of EX-JAM through mentorship, scholarship opportunities, and exposure to career pathways.”
He also stressed the need for alumni contributions toward school development initiatives, including infrastructure support and academic excellence programmes.
“If AFMS Jos grows stronger, we all grow stronger. The school remains the foundation of our shared identity,” he said.
As the PG’s conference gathers momentum, the association’s renewed visibility signals a deliberate effort to secure a stronger future for both the alumni network and the generations of Junior Airmen currently undergoing training in Jos.
