BENIN – In continuation of his efforts at ensuring total victory for the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Akoko-Edo, Elder Abiodun Johnson CEO ABIFA Oil Ltd and Chieftain of PDP in Akoko-Edo hosted the Ward 1 Women and Executive Members of PDP National Campaign Marshals, led by National Coordinator, Cmr Omoreb Zillian today,29th May, 2024 at his country home at Upper Secretariat, Igarra.
In a statement made available by Hon Solomon Taiwo(JP), the Senior Special Assistant SSA to the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, the event attracted notable PDP leaders across the ten Ward, among whom are; Mrs P.O Balogun, Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Edo State; Madam Bose Ojo a.k.a Lady B, PDP LGA Vice Chairman; Madam Muni, Ward 1 Woman Leader; Madam Presido, Hon Mrs Ojo Agbaje S.A to the Executive Governor of Edo State and three Women mobilizers per Unit.
Also in attendance were Hon Onaivi Okuo, 2023 PDP Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Akoko-Edo ; Rt Hon Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, Speaker, Akoko-Edo Legislative Council; Hon Ojo Paul Ozaveshe, Councillor ward 1; Hon Lawanson Oseni, Hon Ayoka Gabriel, Mr Adeku Akande, LGA Party Secretary; Mr Shadow, Ward 1 Chairman; Mr Gideon Chairmen, Ward 2 Chairman, Hon Akubada,Mr Asegah Adodo, Comr Austin Adegboye, Mr Ambrose Mayaki,Mr Francis Dongo, Mr Suleiman Idris among others.
In his opening remarks, the convener, Elder Abiodun Johnson welcomed everyone present with gratitude for always responding to his call. “The main purpose of the meeting is to thank you and sincerely appeal to all PDP members especially in ward 1 to take advantage of the ongoing INEC registration to ensure every eligible voter is registered.” “The only way to thank Mr Governor for giving us the Deputy Governor is to reciprocate by delivering to the PDP overwhelmingly in Akoko-Edo.” Hon Abiodun admonished.
Speaking further, Hon Abiodun expressed confidence that overwhelming support and massive turn out during election will lead to the Party’s victory and help to attract more recognition and political appointments to Akoko-Edo. On her part, Mrs P. O Balogun, described Mr Abiodun Johnson as a detribalized, dependable, generous and trusted politician devoid of family sentiments. She emphasized on the need to mobilize every unregistered eligible voter to register in the ongoing INEC registration while assuring everyone of her readiness to financially support the Party whereever necessary to ensure that PDP family in every ward gets their PVCs. She added that it is the only way to guarantee victory in the forthcoming election.”I advice those wishing to change their voting unit to quickly do so without hesitation.” Balogun advised.
The National Coordinator, PDP Campaign Marshals,Comr Omoreb Zillian, who delivered a goodwill message on behalf of Asue/Ogie Campaign Organization, admonished women to be steadfast and resolute in their campaign efforts as everyone who worked hard for PDP victory shall be adequately rewarded. “This time around, it is going to be ‘monkey’ work, ‘monkey’ chop and not the other way round.” Omreb assured the women that Mr Abiodun Johnson is close to the Deputy Governorship candidate and will always ensure that dividend of democracy gets to all those who have faithfully contributed to PDP victory.
Mr Peko, a political juggernaut, grassroot great mobilizer and one time Councillorship aspirant in ward 1 could not hide his feelings at the meeting when he said “I have never seen a constitent leader like Mr Abiodun Johnson,he is so committed and generous to a fault.” Out of enthusiasm, Mr Peko invoked the spirit of the ancestors in his prayers for the the well-being of Mr Abiodun Johnson and his family in Yoruba dialects.
Other speakers eulogized and offered prayers to Mr Abiodun Johnson for his unwavering support and contribution towards the progress of the Party. Hon Onaivi Okuo, PDP 2023 Presidential Campaign Coordinator in Akoko-Edo while announcing donation on behalf of the Convener for members’ logistical support eulogized Mr Abiodun Johnson, whom he described as a unifier and whose leadership acumen made him attend the meeting all the way from Lagos. “Elder Abiodun Johnson has reconciled all aggrieved members in Ward 1 and PDP is now stronger than ever.” Onaivi declared.
The meeting Convener, Elder Abiodun Johnson declared that the next meeting will hold after the INEC registration exercise where more Campaign materials will be distributed for hitch-free election.
The grandeur occasion anchored by two committed party faithfuls; Hon Olanrewaju Sunday and Mr Ajagun Felix witnessed a royal treatment and entertainment of all Party chieftains and members in attendance.
