The Ajiyan Lubo and Founder of a civic advocacy movement “A Call to Action,” Ambassador Benjamin Abner Mamman, JP, has issued a passionate call, following the consensus emergence of retired Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mohammed Ahmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Gombe Central.
In his address to the people of Yamaltu Deba and the wider public, the former Labour Party Chairman in Gombe State described the development as a historic and widely welcomed decision. He noted that the selection of DCP Mohammed Ahmed (rtd) – a distinguished figure who also holds several revered traditional titles including Jarman Deba, Madugun Yamaltu, Makaman Dokan Gona, Gurkuman Pindiga, and Gwarzon in Akko Kingdom, reflects the long-held aspirations of the Akko people to produce a senator from their community.
According to Amb. Abner, the consensus arrangement represents unity, fairness, and the collective will of the people. The respected community leader emphasised that the emergence of DCP Mohammed Ahmed (rtd) is not just a political milestone but a symbol of inclusiveness and recognition of grassroots desires.
Expressing deep gratitude, Amb. Abner first acknowledged what he described as divine guidance in the process. “We give thanks to Almighty God for His grace and for making this possible,” he said.
He expressed special appreciation to the Dan Majen Gombe na farko who is the Executive Governor of Gombe State, and the Chairman of Northern Nigeria Governors Forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, whom he praised for his pragmatic leadership and statesmanship.
He commended the governor for his support in ensuring a peaceful and widely accepted consensus process.
Amb. Abner further thanked party faithfuls across the state, with special recognition given to members of his advocacy platform, “A Call to Action,” for their commitment and mobilization efforts. He also paid tribute to traditional institutions, expressing gratitude to Royal Highnesses, Emirs, District Heads, and Dakachis for their guidance and stabilizing influence.
In addition, he acknowledged the contributions of elders, women, and youths, describing them as the backbone of the movement. He praised their courage and belief in what he termed a “positive and progressive course.”
Looking ahead, Amb. Abner framed the moment as the beginning of a new chapter for Yamaltu Deba. “The journey to greatness for Yamaltu Deba has just begun. Get set for more action,” he declared, calling for sustained momentum toward the 2027 general elections.
He urged unity and collective responsibility among the people, stressing that success would require shared effort and commitment. “Let us work together for the general actualization of this dream at the general elections come January 2027,” he said.
Offering congratulations to the senatorial candidate, he added, “Congratulations once again to Jarman Deba, our next Senator,” expressing confidence in his eventual victory.
Amb. Abner also extended goodwill to Rt. Hon. Inuwa Garba, wishing him success in his bid for another term in the National Assembly. He prayed for continued progress and representation for his constituents.
Addressing the people of Akko directly, Amb. Abner expressed deep appreciation for their role in the process. “We remain indebted to you. You have shown lovely commitment to this course. Equity and brotherhood win when we stand together,” he stated.
In a simbolic closing remarks, he called on all indiges of Yamaltu Deba to embrace unity and shared purpose. “One Yamaltu Deba, One vision, One destiny, One goal, One purpose. This is our moment indeed,” he affirmed, reinforcing a message of solidarity and collective ambition.
Amb. Benjamin Mamman JP’s statement has been widely interpreted as both a celebration of political inclusion and a rallying call for unity as Nigeria prepares for the upcoming electoral cycle.
