Igarra – People’s Democratic Party PDP in Akoko-Edo further compounded dwindling fortunes of opposition parties in the state as harvests of decampees from opposition camps continued unabated as the party’s victory clock ticks towards September 21 Edo governorship election.
In seemingly routine pre-election jackpot for the party, the PDP henchman in Ward 1, Mr. Abiodun Johnson a.k.a ABIFA received All Progressive Congress APC decampees across the ten Wards in Akoko-Edo amidst fanfare in Igarra Saturday,27th July,2024.
The event,which doubled as decampees and Ward 1 party members’ empowerment programme and a follow-up to series of People’s Democratic Party PDP decampees’ absorption and empowerment enabled by the Oil Magnet and dependable financial pillar of the party in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Abiodun Johnson a.k.a ABIFA witnessed massive turn out by loyal party faithfuls.
Speaking on behalf of the deputy governor,His Excellency, Engr. Marvellous Omobayo at the event, the Chief of Staff, Mr Aziz Abeni said his boss was unavoidably absent to honour the 2024 edition of Afemai World Congress as a special guest. The gathering also attracted many party chieftains like Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government, Mallam Tajudeen Alade who graced the occasion in company of other PDP stalwarts: Hon Jeffrey Obasonmi; the Local Government Campaign Director-General of Asue/ Ogie 2024, Hon Solomon Taiwo (JP); Senior Special Assistant SSA to the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, Hon. Dare Ashefor, Mr. Felix Ajagun, Hon. Andrew Okuo, Hon. Momoh Andrew Ojo, Hon. Olarewaju Sunday, Unit leaders in Ward 1 amongst others.
While speaking at the occasion which expressly turned into a political rally, the Executive Chairman, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Mallam Tajudeen Alade assured the gathering of PDP all round victory across the ten Wards, adding that the life threatening hunger created by ineffective APC led Federal Government is more than enough reason to condemn the party, APC to irrecoverable permanent election defeat in Nigeria.
Speaking further at the event ably anchored by the PDP Spokesman and former Speaker of Akoko-Edo Legislative Arm; Hon Ade Ajayi and a former Councilorship Aspirant, Great Peko, the Deputy Governor’s representative, Mr. Aziz Abeni joined other speakers to admonish the teeming crowd to remain loyal and steadfast as he preached the gospel of Asue/Ogie to the electorates, assuring them of enduring rewards for their unwavering loyalty and support for Asue/Ogie election victory.
