By Grace Idihen

A State High Court, sitting in Igarra, Edo State, on Wednesday, 30 April, 2025 has declared impeachment of the elected chairman of Akoko-Edo local government, Hon. Tajudeen Alade, who was validly elected on the platform of People’s Democratic Party PDP null and void, and ordered his immediate reinstatement.

The presiding judge, in his ruling charged the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure the constitutionally recognised local government chairman is reinstated and provided with the needed security to resume office.

Justice Okoh, in his judgment declared that the court has jurisdiction, contrary to the arguments by the All Progressive Congress APC led state government that the court does lacks jurisdiction in the case.

It would be recalled that the Hon. Tajudeen Alade, and his Vice Chairman were impeached after facing accusations of inefficiency and neglect of duty.
